Here we would like to offer you some  methods to deal with these difficult times and keep moving forward. You will be able to see that it is not about magic formulas, but rather about simple adjustments of one’s state of mind.

1. Ways to handle life: Be generous

You already know that when you feel overwhelmed, your thoughts steer toward what you lack and what you do not have. However, being generous is nourishment for one’s soul.

Instead of dwelling on how you do not have enough time or money, or on your problems at home,  you can find a way to help others.

We recommend giving something to a complete stranger. You do not have to give a lot of money. In fact, you do not need to give any money at all. Maybe you will come across someone trying to carry heavy shopping bags or having trouble crossing the street. Give them a hand!

Helping people will show you that  even when life seems like too much right now, one can always do something good for another person.

The feeling it will give is wonderful.

2. Ways to deal with life: Sit and watch people

One of the biggest problems when we feel overwhelmed by life is that  we only look inward and only think about ourselves and our problems. Next time you feel like it, you should try to go to a park or a cafe with lots of people passing by.

Find a seat and observe the people. But remember, we said  observe, not just look at them. In other words, take a moment to look at someone and imagine who they are. Look at their face and think about what their life might be like.

This exercise will help you live in the moment and remember how children smile all the time and what makes them happy. You will also be able to see people who look sad or angry. Maybe you will even witness an unpleasant situation that you can not do anything about.

You do not have to talk to anyone or try to solve their problems. This absolutely observant exercise  will help one to be more aware of one’s limits, but also of one’s privileges.

3. Ways to deal with life: Go home and relax

Is it your job that feels like too much for you right now? Is your relationship not going so well and have you quarreled with your partner? Or is it a problem with your family? If so,  get out of the situation.

This is not to run away. It’s just  spending time being alone and getting your mood under control. The longer you stay in a situation as mentioned above, the greater the likelihood that you will say something that you do not mean.

Go home, make a good cup of tea or coffee and take a nap or maybe even a bath. Later, you can analyze what happened and find out what it’s really about. Right now, it’s about  letting things cool down.

You will be able to see the next day that  everything will be less negative and you will be in a position where you can make better decisions.

4. Ways to handle life: Love yourself

Do you feel overwhelmed because of a relationship that is not good for you? Does it seem like your friends have suddenly decided that you’re not good enough? It is okay. In the end  , you are the one who has to love yourself.

Give yourself a moment to consciously love yourself. Work on creating useful habits:

  • Have a gratitude diary  where you write one or two things each day that make you special, reasons why you love yourself.
  • Set aside time each week to be alone and  pamper yourself with a massage or hobby that you love.
  • Look at yourself in the mirror every night before you go to bed and say these three magic words:  “I love you.”

Lack of self-love can cause one to accept situations and situations that hurt one. Do not let this happen.

5. Ways to deal with life: Educate yourself

There are times when you feel overwhelmed by situations that you do not know how to handle. For example, you may always end up with a debt at the end of the month, no matter how much you work. Or maybe you keep missing out on that promotion.

In situations like these, it is important to find out if the problem actually has something to do with one’s feelings or abilities. Do not make the mistake of thinking that you know everything.

Instead, divert your thinking to good things in life, such as your skills.

The answer will depend on what you need:

  • A course in personal finance if you do not know how to handle your money.
  • An hour or two to  learn an ability that will help you develop at work.
  • Psychological therapy to  identify and resolve emotional issues  that keep you in abusive relationships.

Remember that there is no magic solution. And  sometimes you have to stop and learn something. When you do, it will be much easier to move on.

6. Ways to handle life: Get inspired

Find a place at home where positivity flows. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and lose your sense of direction when you do not take the time to be grateful and be inspired.

Do you want to travel to Asia? Making enough money to buy your dream home? If you do not stay focused, you will lose yourself in trying to achieve your dreams.

Buy a notebook or find a place in the house to hang  pictures, quotes and anything else that will remind you of what you are working towards.

That way, you can go there and get your ideas, plans, and activities in place when you feel like you can not handle life.
